Allowing space to fail..

I love this quote, because it's just so easy for our mind to give up after a fail. But truly how many people do you know who got it right the first time?

Maybe we should just expect to fail so it preps ourselves to go at it - again and again and again.

Have you ever heard that kind of advise from a life coach?

Let me ask you:

How many times have you stepped away from doing something because the first time you tried - it didn't turn out as planned?

Where did your motivation for trying again go?

Listen I get it - I was a pro at throwing out the baby with the bathwater...figurativley speaking.

If something didn't work out, I'd crawl into victim talk and say things like -

"I suck at this"

or

"I'll never be good enough to do it"

Where did that get me?

NOWHERE.

So here's the mind hack I started practicing:

FAILING FORWARD.

I visualize what I'd love to see happen, but I leave room to accept a fail. By accepting failure ahead of time - I don't get as caught up in the negative emotion if it happens. But more importantly it allows me to treat myself with compassion, instead of horrible judgement. And compassion leads me to wanting to try again.

This week I'd like to offer you to go after what you want with your best intentions, but allow yourself to accept failure if it doesn't. Then if things don't go as planned, notice how you feel and how you behave as a result of not resisting a failed attempt.

Then get right back up and try again.

I'm sure my Loyola Ramblers will be doing the same for next year.

Have an amazing week,

Patricia
