Self care & trust



This week, I am writing this as I sit under a thatched hut at an adorable coffee house in Dunedin Florida 😎..

At the beginning of 2018, I marked off 2 WHOLE WEEKS on my calendar for vacation. I never do that! I usually fly by the seat of my pants and take vacation whenever my husbands job will permit 😫.

And this is usually what happens: we book something at the last minute, I'm not prepared mentally to step away from my work...I step away...I loose momentum...I have a hard time getting back into the groove once vacation is over.

Classic 2 steps forward and 3 steps backward - UGH.

This year - I decided to act like the CEO of my business and determine ahead of time when my vacation would be. Never mind that I didn't know where we'd go back in January, I'd figure out the deets later. Simply blocking the time off sent a message to my brain that those weeks were going to be non-negotiable.

I decided the first week was going to be all about REST and the second week was going to be about PLAY. Two critical things that I never purposely schedule...when was the last time you scheduled rest and play in your calendar?

I decided what parts of my business I would absolutely not do and what parts I'd check in with that felt easy and effortless.

I set an intention for who I wanted to show up as with my family and how I wanted to feel AHEAD of time.

And here's the sole reason this has boosted my self trust:

I DID WHAT I SAID I WAS GOING TO DO.

That's it folks.

I followed through on my promise to me.

How many times do you follow through on the promises you make to yourself?

Each and every time you stay committed to your word - you build another layer of self trust within yourself. Your inner critic won't be screaming in your ear with sabotaging thoughts of not following through...because now you have evidence to show your brain that you did.

This week I'd like to offer you to consider staying committed to something small that you'd like to do. Whether it's reaching out to someone or folding and putting away all the laundry. Just do what you said you'd do. It's practicing with the small things that lead to the big things.
