The thing everyone wants but few get..

Updated: May 14, 2021

This week I'm sharing part one of a two part series called COURAGE & CONFIDENCE. I'll be talking about it here on the blog and vlogging about it on my social media handles.

COURAGE - the foundation of confidence.

CONFIDENCE - the byproduct of courage.

Courage by the definition in the dictionary is: The ability to do something that frightens one.

When we are attempting to do something that scares us - mustering up the courage is the magic that makes you do it. But this is where a lot of people get stuck: When our primal brain is confronted with fear it will either send us to put up our fists and fight or run far from the situation at hand or freeze in paralysis.

As history shows, we have evolved to where we are today because of the courage of others before us. Facing fear and doing it anyways is where courage lives.

Below are three strategies to help you cultivate courage.

1) IDENTIFY IT

Identify the fear that's holding you back. Label it. Is it fear of failure? Fear of being judged? Fear of being visible? If you don't know what's holding you back you can't create a plan of action to work through it.

2) EMBRACE IT

Embrace the fear you labeled, that particular fear reason holding you back, the thing that's keeping you playing small. Breathe through it with deep slow inhales and exhales and an acknowledgment that it's there and you are linking arms with it - not pushing it away.

3) HOLD ON TO IT AND TAKE A STEP

Embrace your fear reason and take a step. YOU can do these two things simultaneously. Will it feel uncomfortable? YES! Do it anyway - because you can.

“You cannot discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore”

What's one way you can create courage to step in the direction of your goal?

What's one way you can create courage to move the needle on the business idea you have?

What's one way you can create courage to speak up and share your knowledge with others?

I'd love to know - reply and tell me your intention for cultivating some courage this week.

xoxo,

Patricia
