4 Steps to Sound Sleep

Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night with hot sweats not from menopause - but anxiety?

I used to have these episodes ALL.THE.TIME.

I've made a lot of progress in this area and happy to say that doesn't happen too often anymore...until it did last night.

So I decided to deal with it from a loving compassionate place instead of the old "mean girl" space.

Here's what I did that allowed me to get back to sleep like a baby:

1. Calmed myself down with a counting meditation of my breath

2. Connected with God

3. Complimented myself on all the things I am doing

4. Cuddled myself by placing a hand on my heart and a hand on my belly

These 4 things allowed me to be in the NOW instead of get swallowed up in regret of the past or anxiety of the future.

Listen - stress can come and go. Negative emotion is part of being human.

But how long we want to hang on to it is always a choice. Having some simple strategies for combating the anxiety can reduce the amount of time you are in it.

Next time you wake up swirling in any negative emotion from fear to worry to frustration - use these 4 steps to bring you back to the moment and back to lalaland...

Here's to strategies for better self care -
