Get it Done.

Updated: Aug 31, 2023

How many times have you let the overwhelm of a goal paralyze you from taking action? Or maybe it wasn't even a goal but something you wanted to do and it just felt impossible?

Recently I've been coaching my clients on a concept I call BARE MINIMUMS.

Bare minimums are nothing new. It's just breaking down a goal or task and doing the easiest most manageable action that is realistic and achievable.

It's what I used to start my mediation practice 8 years ago. I never thought I would be able to sit still and meditate. I used my bare minimums method and started with 1 minute a day for 1 month. Then went to 2 minutes a day for the next month...getting me to my sweet spot of 24 minutes. (If you would have told me 8 years ago that I would be a daily 24 minute meditator - I would have told you - you got the wrong girl!)

Here's the really cool thing about this approach: it naturally builds momentum.

Each client returned to our sessions with big smiles on their faces for completing their bare minimums and went one step beyond because they felt so good and were on a roll!

This is what happens when you employ Bare Minimums:

  • Overcome Overwhelm: When faced with a large, daunting goal, breaking it into smaller tasks makes it less intimidating and allows you to focus on one achievable step at a time.

  • Build Consistency: Taking small, manageable actions consistently builds a positive routine. Consistency is key to forming habits and maintaining momentum, which is essential for hitting goals.

  • Accumulate Confidence: Successfully completing each small step boosts your confidence and self-belief. As you achieve these mini-goals, you build evidence that you're making progress, which can propel you forward. This accomplishment fuels your motivation and encourages you to tackle more significant challenges that come along.

Remember, it's not about the size of the step (ie: my 1 minute a day for 1 month was small!) but the direction it's taking you. By embracing the power of bare minimums, you're setting yourself up for a more manageable, consistent, and successful journey towards anything you're trying to accomplish.

Where can you embrace small steps this week? 🌱🚀...

xoxo,

Patricia
